About Us

Tom and Merry Wagner were co-owners of a toll collection service business based in New Jersey. After years of world-wide travel, they decided to retire and follow their dream of relocating to the countryside where Merry’s father was born and raised. Ten years later, that dream is still growing. On 40 acres of untouched land, they built the cottage with the intention of having a separate cottage for visiting family and friends…..and now they’ve extended that invitation to guests.

Personally designing and building it, they modeled the house after an English-style cottage. They purchased the property in 2005 and started building the following year.

The construction was challenging – there wasn’t even electric power at the road. Another challenge was the stone work. They built the fireplace, stone veneer, exterior steps and paths using stones they gathered from the property.

Looking back, they’d do it all again – and they did. They built the home they’re living in on the same 40 acres.
